About the Show:

Who Run the World is a weekly talk show, where two best friends Rhea Chedid and Marilyn Zakhour explore topics surrounding society, culture, interpersonal relationships, work relationships, business and health through their vantage points as Arab women.

Listening to WRTW feels like sitting on a couch with two friends having engaging, insightful, funny, messy, and deep conversations, all while trying to make sense of the world. Rhea & Marilyn are often joined by expert guests, or friends who share their personal stories or get together just the two of them to discuss an issue that is on their mind. They’ve discussed gender, dating, how to deal with conflict, women’s health, starting a business during the pandemic, struggles from their home country Lebanon and so much more.

Since launching the podcast more than 2 years ago, the hosts have produced two spinoffs, which listeners can tune into from the WRTW feed. They are called Things My Mother Didn’t Tell Me but My Best Friend Did andWho Run the Time and.

Things My Mother Didn’t Tell Me but My Best Friend Did

As Arab women there are a lot of topics that are considered taboo. As a consequence, our mothers as well as previous generations did not pass on crucial knowledge to their daughters. Therefore many Arab women (and non Arab women) had to learn about things like how to deal with money, their periods, dating, bra sizes, miscarriage, sex, motherhood, gender and the list goes on, from their friends and sisters. In this series Rhea & Marilyn dive into these themes talking to each other, their friends and experts about the things their mothers didn’t tell them but their best friends did.

Who Run the Time

As luck would have it, Rhea & Marilyn found themselves in lockdown together for four months at the beginning of the pandemic, and got up to a whole bunch of activities. They decided to produce Who Run the Time as a slighter shorter form chat cast to capture all the different things they did to pass the time. When lockdown ended, time continued to run and the two hosts decided to continue recording humorous episodes on how they choose to spend their time.
